The Last Sin Eater
As described on the Netflix jacket:
Rated PG-13 1 hr. 58 min. 2007
Every moment was wonderful and well done. I resisted watching this film thinking it seemed uninteresting by the preview I saw. My husband reassured me that he had heard nothing but positive reviews. As usual when it comes to picking out movies, my husband picked a good one. The story takes place during an interesting time in American history. It's about a small group of early Irish settlers starting a new life in a beautiful area of the United States. There was an old custom they brought with them that required having a sin eater in their community. It's a very dark and mysterious custom that the viewers discover along with the main character, ten-year-old Cadi Forbes. Anyone can relate to this heart touching film. I did shed a few tears, but it was so sweet. It has a wonderful message as well about the original sin eater, Jesus Christ. I highly recommend it.
