On GodTube.com, I saw some harsh criticism of this preacher's video. However, when I saw the clip, I saw the power of God's word, and not the preacher bragging his good memory or anything else. This clip inspired me so much that I have also recently endeavored to memorize the book of Ephesians myself. The result was that I was very much edified by the whole experience. When the Lord spoke to Joshua, He said:
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.

When we think of meditating, we think of our minds. But here the Lord says that His word is not to depart from our mouths, not our minds. For some weird reason, I used to be somewhat opposed to "mere" memorization of the Scriptures and was for "understanding" and "practicing it." I had still naturally memorized Scriptures just by thinking about them a lot, but I had never made an effort to memorize them. It is interesting that when we try to memorize the Bible, we often need to read it aloud (using our mouth). As a result, I ended up thinking (meditating) about the verses I had read aloud many times to memorize. My heart and mind were immersed in His words and my actions naturally followed them. Praise the Lord for His excellent advice on how best we can follow His word! The best way is to not let the Scriptures depart from our mouths.

Let us commit His word to memory! This is not a matter of intelligence or how academically equipped you are. We all make time and efforts to memorize what we desire to memorize; what channel of TV we like to watch, the lyrics of our favorite song, brand and model of our favorite merchandise, and various other hobby-related things. Let this video clip inspire you to engage in this exciting task. For those of us who couldn't make a good speech about the Lord or the Gospel to an unbeliever or whoever, we can always quote the Scriptures. Remember that the power unto salvation is not in our preaching capabilities, but in the Gospel (Romans 1:18).

Having written this, I must refresh my memory on Ephesians. I don't want to lose it after all the time I've invested in it :) After that I want to pick another book for memorization. If you find it in your heart, please pray for my memorization efforts. Thank you and God bless you.
