debianRecently I decided to switch to Debian from Ubuntu mainly because I felt that Ubuntu is getting slow. Of course the obvious disadvantage is that there will be things that won't work out-of-the-box. One of the items on the menu to be tweaked and hacked is suspend and hibernate. Now I really don't use hibernation, but just suspension. So what I've shown you here may work for hibernating. I just don't know b/c I'm too lazy to test it. Sorry.

Imperial JapanThe longest and the most expensive election cycle in the US is now over. We're now beginning to see the potential landscape of the US government in the next few years. Regardless of your political persuasion, I think everyone can agree that this country will see some big changes soon. In this context, there are historical lessons that people ought to know. I'm not 100% if this is going to be a series, but here it is.

What we should know about Imperial Japan
After the end of the Shogunate government in 1867, Japan began the process of modernization under the heavy influence of Europe. A constitution modeled after that of Prussia (early form of Germany) was enacted in 1889. Surprisingly, this constitution is, at least on the surface, similar to the US constitution. Janet and I have been pre-occupied with many things in our life this past year. I wish I had done more for this website, but I wasn't able to find the time and energy for it. As we will be going through some fairly major transition in our life next year, I am praying about what we may do for this website. One thing we have decided already is to start posting again. Some of the first posts will most likely include topics like politics, evolution-creation issue, authority of the Bible, and some minor how-to's for Linux. But there may be others. Stay tuned...
